Nauvoo Field trip Reflection

My favorite part of the trip was learning the brief history of Nauvoo, because when you are learning about something it is important to get a little background on the subject you are learning.
I think its really cool the way families lived in the 1840s. They had to make their own cloths, and they had to make room somewhere for small machines like the one used to make the cloth for carpets or cloths because they didn't have a cloths or carpet store.
Something I learned about the Mormons and the reason they moved west was that they were involved in the same religion but had different beliefs. People had different religious beliefs and with these disagreements caused a kind of anarchy that caused them to move in order to prevent a civil war.
If I had to make a choice on what I would research  farther into that I learned briefly about would be how blacksmiths made their metal products and what gives them the idea to make such things. I think it's cool how they make a fire that can slightly melt metal to the point they can form it into anything they want. If I research a bit more i could be a blacksmith myself if thats still an available job.

Literacy Circles- Moral Dilemma stuff

A moral dilemma is a situation where a person has to choose what is right or wrong.
The book I read is called Under the Same Sky and the moral dilemma in this book is wether Joe will run in the illegal migrant workers to the INS or help them hide.
The 3 illegal workers ran into the woods, later picked up by Joe and helped to safety.
I really wouldn't have done anything different. To be honest, Joe is almost exactly like me.

Independent Project Reflection of 2016

In my presentation I did a slide show on earthquakes. I think It's safe to say that I did... below average on it. I only had 3 slides, no pictures, and almost no eye contact while presenting. To be honest with what I described just now, I don't really like my project, I think I rushed it too much. The hardest part was knowing wether the facts were true or not. This did, however, helped me be a better learner because I know what not to do at least. If I could do it over again, I would get more fact from more reliable and trustable websites. There's no question about it I know what I did wrong, and I know what to do about it! If you want you can take a look at it for yourself. Link to my Project :)

2016- 2017 1st Blog Post!

In this post, I an going to write my goals for the school year of 2016 and 2017 and how they are important to me!
  1.  Academics: My goal for academics is to get my work done faster. This is important because if i don't get it done fast enough it will more that likely be homework, and it will be really hard to do so much work at once!
  2. Personal Behavior:  My goal for my behavior is to remember homework. Homework effects my score a lot more than it used to!
  3.  Environment: My environmental goal is to be more kind to my friends! I find this to be important, because I haven't been the best friend in the last year. At least that's what I've noticed.

Poetry Reflection

Before this poetry unit, I thought poems were really important, that they take some work, and come from the heart! After  this poetry unit nothing changed and I still enjoy poetry.

My favorite activity in this unit is the checker board game. It gave us words and we had to make up a poem about it. I enjoyed the game mostly, but the whole thing was really fun!

The poem I shared and enjoyed most with the class was called "The Doubtful Duckling" by, Marilyn Singer. I chose it because I enjoyed the poem, and because it was unique with it's reverse second side.

My project has a list of basic facts, rules, and a video about Disc Golf.  The most interesting thing I learned is that all games have tons of rules and you cant get them all in 1 week.

Click this for a group of slides on how to play Disc Golf

For next time i am gonna improve it by actually getting more knowledge about my project.

A precept from Wonder by R.J. Palacio. "Your deeds are your monuments." One thing that I did is clean up the whole living room. Others include taking out the trash and doing the dishes.
